HBM: Eastern Counties VR307 (PRC 853X) in Mildenhall – 27 Apr 1994 (221-3)
Wednesday 27 April 1994 – The West Row outstation (previously Mildenhall for many years) of Eastern Counties Omnibus Company Limited only had responsibility in providing two buses required to operate the West Row-Mildenhall- Bury St Edmunds and Lakenheath-Mildenhall-Bury St Edmunds services. In more recent times it also assumed responsibility for operation of the Suffolk County Council sponsored Thetford Mildenhall Newmarket service 200. Later still another operation which became one of its regular workings was a morning run from Exning near Newmarket travelling via various villages adjacent to the A14 into Bury St Edmunds with a corresponding return in the evening.
Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol VR VR307 (PRC 853X) was new to Trent Motor Traction and was caught here after it had finished its public duties for the day when it was running empty from Exning back to West Row. I suspect the driver had parked the bus at the bus stop by the church in Mildenhall High Street to call at one of the town shops whilst on the way home.
I took the photograph to capture the destination blind which was one I didn't see very often. The springtime green as a nice contrast.
