The Swan Whisperer

Taken at Emsworth Harbour, Hampshire. This is Gordon who feeds the swans twice a day...........he's been doing it for many years and they seem to love him. He's fully authorised to do this by the council and wears a uniform jacket with the words Swan Welfare Volunteer.

Keith Burton replied to J.Garcia:

They always attract a crowd of on-lookers at feeding time and yes, the gulls don't stand a chance!

Keith Burton replied to Günter Klaus:

You're quite right Güni...........the gull doesn't stand a chance of getting any food :-)))

Apparently, this man has been feeding the swans twice a day for many years and the swans all seem to love him, even the youngsters. It's lovely to watch how they interact with him.

Glad you like the photo my friend...........and thanks for your nice comments.

Have a lovely evening........best wishes, Keith.

His love of birds, but presumably also the twice-daily meal, allows him to forge a close bond with the swans. Very interesting and beautifully shown, Keith.

There's a lot of trust between the swans and Gordon. He must be a very contented individual to have this lifestyle.

Few things are more satisfying than the interaction between humans and animals. I feel sorry for the seagull watching the scene...well, there's always a nearby dunghill to feed on.
By the way, the swans should know that feeding time is an hour earlier with the time change.

Keith Burton replied to Anton Cruz Carro:

It's really fascinating to watch how he interacts with the swans Anton and apparently he's being doing it for years.

You're right about the gull...........it doesn't stand a chance of getting fed!

I hope they worked out the clock's changing, otherwise they'll have been waiting for breakfast for a white. :-))
